河海大学海洋学院深蓝公开课系列2019年春季课程报名开始啦！本次课程邀请到了来自美国夏威夷大学的裘波教授执教。开设的课程为：海洋动力学与多尺度变率。课程每天3个课时进行，主要阐述了多尺度动力学的基本原理，跨尺度的相互作用，以及它们对现实观察现象的应用，欢迎科研人员及研究生踊跃报名参加！具体的课程报名请见后面申请指南！
为提升海洋科学研究水平，进一步推动和加强我国海洋科学的研究，加强我国海洋研究人才储备，更好服务于国家海洋发展战略需求，河海大学海洋学院于2019年1月10日至1月15日在南京举办深蓝公开课系列2019年春季课程，本次课程的层次高、涉及面广、内容丰富，并且课程免费对外开放，学员只需自理食宿及行程费用。
授课专家：
裘波教授任教于美国夏威夷大学海洋系，主要研究领域为大尺度海洋环流变化、中纬度海-气相互作用、地球物理流体动力学和卫星海洋学。截止目前共在同行评议期刊上发表了SCI学术论文130余篇，其论文被广泛引用，H-index指数为54，单篇被引次数最高达到273。裘波教授是政府间气候变化专门委员会(IPCC)第四次和第五次评估报告的撰稿人，曾获得日本海洋学会冈田奖，以及美国NASA地球使命新探索者奖。

Course descriptions:
The ocean circulation and variability are multi-scaled. They materialize both by external atmospheric forcings at the air-sea interface and by nonlinear processes intrinsic to the fluid motion. Constrained by the Earth rotation, non-uniform vertical stratification, and continental bathymetry, the ocean circulation variability is kaleidoscopic and many of their facets are being progressively unraveled by in-situ and remote sensing-based observations. This course attempts to familiarize students with the fundamental dynamics relevant to various scales of oceanic motions. Emphases are placed on the interactions among different scales and an appreciation that an improved understanding of such interactions leads to a better elucidation of observed phenomena.

2. Western boundary current multiple equilibria
3. Baroclinic and barotropic wave adjustment
4. Kelvin-Helmholtz instability
5. Barotropic instability
6. Baroclinic instability

9. Upper ocean mixed layer dynamics
10. Pacific Ocean decadal variability
